Rephrasing the Beatles: all we need is time: and as I promised above (still working on it, it turned out to be the time-consuming topics) – about DV Architecture and DV DevelopmentĪs well as about big differences between Data Visualization and Infographics (a.k.a Data Representation or Data Slides Upcoming new release of Omniscope (it took Visokio more then a year from 2.5 to 2.6!). The picture below is not from my neighborhood but rather from my dream about Spring, since awful Winter 2010-2011 (I got 7+ feet of snow to remove from my driveway during last 4 months, see the 2nd picture from the top of this page) hopefully will end soon and to celebrate that I am planning to blog about Vizubi (done!), I guess these pages will be published soon (hopefully in 2011, I am so busy, that I do not have enough free time for my own blog) – I want to clarify my arguments and help to prevent the waste of time and money for multiple companies. That stupidity prompted me to accelerate the writing for DV Architecture and DV Development pages, which was under constructions for a few months. Funny that most choose to develop own DV tools, because they think they can do it cheaper and better then Spotfire, Qlikview or Tableau. My answer depends on situation but I noticed that in most cases I came up with the same advise:ĭo not re-invent the wheel and use existing tools (for time-to-market) instead of creating own “intellectual property”. what advise I can give can them, so they can choose between development of own visualization “platform” or they will partner with DV Leaders?.they generate huge datasets, like application and user logs or network traffic, online and streaming advertisements impressions etc.
I had approximately the same discussion with them: I observed a huge spike of startup activity in Greater Boston area in 2011 and some startups show me their desperate need for Data Visualization.
Update: I posted on this blog about Dimensionality of Visible Data and added a new page about Dimensionality of Charts in 2011.
I tried to avoid the answer, but here it is: I think that blogging about the Dimensionality of Charts is more important topic for Data Visualization and this is what I will do soon (done!). People asked me why I am not blogging on so called big events like recent Microstrategy World 2011 and SAP’s release of BO4.
